James Falletti is an award-winning environmental communicator, wildlife photographer, science educator, writer, author, and speaker based in New Jersey. Through James Falletti Photography, he combines conservation storytelling, environmental education, photography, and public engagement to help people connect more deeply with birds, wildlife, biodiversity, sustainability, and the natural world.
With more than 20 years of experience in science education, environmental outreach, and community engagement, James has developed educational programs, conservation initiatives, photography workshops, and public presentations throughout the United States and internationally. His work focuses on making environmental and scientific topics accessible through visual storytelling, experiential learning, photography, writing, and public engagement.
James is a contributor writer, Field Trip Guide, and conservation educator with the Bergen County Audubon Society. He also serves on the Marketing and Communications Committee for Teaneck Creek Conservancy and collaborates with organizations dedicated to environmental stewardship, conservation education, habitat restoration, sustainability, and community engagement.
He is the editor and a contributing photographer for More... Life from the Meadowlands by Don Torino, a book celebrating the wildlife, habitats, and conservation success stories of New Jersey's Meadowlands. His photography has appeared in publications and media outlets including 201 Magazine, NorthJersey.com, and other regional outlets. His work, conservation outreach efforts, and environmental education programs have also been featured through B&H Photo, News 12 New Jersey, WFDU, El Diario, and other community and media platforms.
Throughout his career, James has taught science, STEM, STEAM, environmental education, astronomy, and sustainability programs both in person and virtually. He has developed sustainability-focused school initiatives through Eco-Schools USA, a National Wildlife Federation program, and has worked with students, educators, nonprofit organizations, conservation groups, and community partners to promote environmental literacy and stewardship.
James is the recipient of the 2026 Dick Engsberg Teacher Appreciation Award from the Bergen County Audubon Society, the Cherri Brinley Outstanding Educator Award from Space Center Houston, and the Patricia F. Kane Environmental Educator Award. In 2026, James Falletti Photography was recognized as a Best of Bergen finalist by 201 Magazine and the USA Today Network. He is a National Geographic Certified Educator, SEEC Crew Ambassador, and longtime advocate for science education, conservation, and environmental stewardship.
In addition to his photography and educational work, James is the author of the forthcoming memoir and nonfiction book The Classroom Without Walls, which explores how nature, travel, conservation, and real-world experiences can transform the way we learn. He is also the creator of the forthcoming Wings of Wonder picture book series, introducing young readers to birds, wildlife, photography, and environmental stewardship.
Whether leading a bird walk, presenting a photography workshop, speaking at a conservation event, developing educational programs, or documenting wildlife in the field, James remains committed to helping people connect with nature, strengthen environmental stewardship, and discover the stories that exist all around them.
